Affordable luxury at The Wardrobe clothing exchange shop in Alton

The Wardrobe clothing exchange in Alton is a complete and utter treasure trove. Run by the gorgeous Fran Gill, it stocks high-end items, from clothing and shoes to jewellery and bags. All are previously owned but in excellent condition and the prices are unbelievably affordable. I always leave with something; Boden cardies, Nicole Farhi tops, Mulberry bags, a Vivienne Westwood shirt and Abercrombie & Fitch jacket all count among my best purchases. It’s also a great place to take your unwanted items as you receive 50% of the proceeds once Fran has sold them.

For me, the best thing about The Wardrobe is the feel of the shop – it’s always well stocked, has large changing rooms and Fran’s warm and friendly manner makes it unlike any other clothes shopping experience. There’s an extremely high turnover of goods, so I recommend visiting on a regular basis, but be warned – you do generally leave with something!

TiYK Top Tip! Fran takes stock on a daily basis, but it’s a good idea to phone ahead and make an appointment so you can spend a bit of time with Fran going through your items.
